MACH: integration for satellite monitoring of agricultural land
Challenge
Checks on agricultural subsidies are moving from the fields to satellites. SZIF introduced monitoring-based checks (MACH), which use data from the Sentinel 1 and 2 satellites to continuously assess whether the required agricultural activity, such as mowing or harvesting, has taken place on a plot. Farmers see the result on the Farmer's Portal as a traffic light, and instead of an on-site inspection a geotagged photo from the mobile app is often enough. Behind this is a number of systems that have to exchange data reliably and continuously.
Solution
On the MACH project we work as the integrator for O2 IT Services:
- event-driven architecture, where systems communicate through events in Apache Kafka,
- integration microservices on Apache Camel, where each integration runs as a separate, independently deployable service,
- operation on Kubernetes with a robust and scalable deployment.
Technology
Result
Integration that grows by services, not by exceptions. Every new connection is added as another microservice without putting the existing ones at risk. Our team owns the design, development and deployment of the integrations.
