# MACH: integration for satellite monitoring of agricultural land

Client: SZIF (State Agricultural Intervention Fund) · delivered for O2 IT Services

## Challenge

**Checks on agricultural subsidies are moving from the fields to satellites.** SZIF introduced monitoring-based checks (MACH), which use data from the Sentinel 1 and 2 satellites to continuously assess whether the required agricultural activity, such as mowing or harvesting, has taken place on a plot. Farmers see the result on the Farmer's Portal as a traffic light, and instead of an on-site inspection a geotagged photo from the mobile app is often enough. Behind this is a number of systems that have to exchange data reliably and continuously.

## Solution

**On the MACH project we work as the integrator for O2 IT Services:**

- event-driven architecture, where systems communicate through events in Apache Kafka,
- integration microservices on Apache Camel, where each integration runs as a separate, independently deployable service,
- operation on Kubernetes with a robust and scalable deployment.

## Technology

Apache Camel Kafka Kubernetes

## Result

**Integration that grows by services, not by exceptions.** Every new connection is added as another microservice without putting the existing ones at risk. Our team owns the design, development and deployment of the integrations.

## Working on integrations between systems without vendor lock-in and on an open-source stack?
