# EAP Upgrade: from a monolith to Kubernetes

Client: a leading Czech telco operator · part of the supplier team

## Challenge

**An operator's core system, a huge monolith and deployments that take hours.** Every change is a risk, every release is an event. A system the business stands on needed to be broken into components and run in a modern way, all while in full operation.

## Solution

**We worked on decomposing the monolith and migrating it to Kubernetes:**

- splitting the code into independently deployable components,
- containerisation and moving operations to Kubernetes,
- the integration layer of a next-generation CRM platform on Apache Camel and jBPM, which we were responsible for,
- business rules in Drools.

## Result

**Deployments in minutes instead of hours and a migration without a single outage.** The core system kept running throughout the rebuild. This is exactly the kind of work we enjoy: changing the engine mid-flight without the passengers noticing.
